A post I wrote for Make Use Of. The problem with having so many social networks is that it becomes increasingly difficult to keep track of them all. Plus it also becomes increasingly difficult for your online friends to keep track of you. So what’s the answer to this conundrum you ask? Use Friendfeed.

An article I wrote for Make Use Of. If you can’t wait for the stable Alpha version of Firefox 3.4 but at the same time you don’t want to risk your Firefox profile on the buggy beta version, you can have the best of both worlds - run the portable version.

While I was checking out a batch of new blogs the other day, I came across Feeddit which is a pumped up version of the Digg RSS feed - just the ticket if you’re a heavy hardcore Digger whose days are spent digging countless stories and you break out in a cold sweat if you miss the chance to bury the latest Microsoft story.

Countless books have been written on how to shortcut your way around Windows to your advantage. But in the last part of my shortcuts series, I am going to do you a big favour and only tell you a few shortcuts that I use on a daily basis to speed up my travelling around Windows XP (most should work on Vista as well).

A story I wrote for Make Use Of. Much has already been said on Make Use Of about keyboard shortcuts but I want to focus specifically on the ones I use most often. I’ve often found that it’s easy to be totally overwhelmed by the sheer volume of shortcuts out there (who can remember them all?) so I’m going to boil it down for you to the absolute essentials and ignore the rest.

A story I wrote for Geeks Are Sexy. To test the service, the reporter invited one of the geek agents around to the house to get some computer things done. The tasks were installing Skype, creating a home wireless network, making the router secure and transferring the iTunes library from an old laptop. The bill? $260!

A post I wrote for Make Use Of. If someone has cracked your email password, it may not be apparent to you. A snooper can easily read an email then mark it as unread again. So the best thing to do would be to set up an “electronic tripwire” so if someone breaks into your account, you’ll know about it.
