Predict the political future with Wikipedia
It seems that you could have forecasted who the US Republican vice-presidential pick was going to be, simply by monitoring the edits of each candidate’s Wikipedia page. This is according to the Washington Post. John McCain’s eventual VP pick, Governor Sarah Palin’s Wikipedia page was apparently updated 68 times on August 28th with another 54 changes the preceding 5 days.
So if the Alaska Governor suddenly updates her Wikipedia page 68 times in 24 hours, you know something’s up!
Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty was in second place with alterations while Mitt “magic underpants” Romney got only 17 edits.
Saying that though, was Palin on anyone’s radar? Would we have known to look at her Wikipedia page in advance? She kind of hit me from nowhere so was anyone really looking at her? According to MSNBC, McCain had only met Palin once before offering her the VP slot on the ticket.
