Back from Scotland!
I returned yesterday from a 5 day trip to Scotland. It was nice to get away from everyday life and routine but the weather in Scotland was absolutely atrocious - 90% of the time it was raining! Considering it’s August, it was absolutely disgraceful weather. But as I said, it was still nice to get away, to see the family, have a break and relax before burning out.
Starting tomorrow, I will be blogging in several parts about the trip - about the Tattoo at the castle, about our visit to Dean Haglund’s comedy show, about our grandparents 60th wedding anniversary, about our shopping trips where I bought 14 books (!), about our visit to Hopetoun House where we had tea and scones which left us with a whopping bill for 20 pounds ($37). We then went outside where we witnessed a vodka TV commercial being made where a man in a gorilla costume was running around chasing another man in his swimming trunks - maybe the actors were drinking too much of their own product?
Oh and my travel accounts wouldn’t be complete without the chaotic Lufthansa strikes, the delayed German Rail trains with their weird conductors and my cynical British insights and dry wit.
Stay tuned for part one sometime tomorrow.

I think that rainy weather is going to be common across Scotland, no different that a trip across the United Kingdom. All the same, Scotland is still a gorgeous and remarkable country.
