Me on the Make Use Of podcast
I appeared on a podcast on Make Use Of yesterday, talking about internet applications, Germany, this blog - but mostly about the internet. The emphasis was on Twitter but also about Firefox extensions including one for Google Reader, AideRSS.
I am actually cringing with embarrassment because I hate the sound of my voice. I come across as babbling a bit and cackling like Skeletor from He-Man. But most of it was just nerves. The interviewer, Jason Mayoff, had actually sent me a plan a couple of days before of what he was going to ask me and I had worked out a kind of a script (including jokes). At the last minute, he said, “you know what, let’s scrap what I said and ad lib it”. So basically I felt I cacked the whole thing up because I was then unprepared and totally nervous.
But in the closing minute, as the credits are rolling, listen out for me saying “bye Mum!” which later cracked me up completely when I heard it being played back!! I thought it hadn’t been picked up by the microphones.
All in all though it was fun. I am game for anything really. My philosophy is that life is one big experiment and you need to try everything at least once. I mean, how can you say that you hate something if you don’t try it first? Now that I have done it once, I am ready to do it again!
