Imified adds a Friendfeed updating bot for IM
Like a lot of other people right now, I am going through a bit of a love affair with Friendfeed and I am reading what I can find on the service. Now that Friendfeed has opened up their API to developers, we are starting to see the first of the third-party services appearing. My favourite one is Imified’s IM updating bot.
Although interestingly enough, this bot is not integrated into the rest of Imified’s offerings. Normally you would use Imified by entering imified@imified.com as your contact on your IM contact list, entering “help” and then you would have access to the services that you want to use.
But the Friendfeed updating bot seems to be totally separate. You need to enter a totally new contact on your IM list - friendfeed@imified.com - and then you enter help. If it’s the first time, you’ll be prompted for your username and remote key. Just follow the instructions (it’s very easy). After that, just send the message or link by instant message and the bot sends it to your Friendfeed account. When I tested it, it arrived within seconds :

It’ll be interesting to see if this remains a separate service or if they eventually fold this into the main Imified portfolio. I have to say it’s a tad inconvenient having two Imified bots sitting there on my contact list. The neatness part of me rankles at seeing them sitting there side by side like two estranged sisters glowering at one another at a family get-together.
